It's a wet Monday morning and I have a to do list with some big things on it which I keep putting off (they're never as bad as I think once I've started but I never learn).
So to avoid getting started I'm staring at a big pile of lovely fabric as if in some sort of Mr Ben way if I dive in it will transport me to a fabric utopia....when I realise just how much fabric I have adorned with beautiful birds....
You might be forgiven for thinking I'm all about the vintage, but to be honest if it will look good in my imaginary Georgian farmhouse (I'm serious) then I'm on it.
I'm a massive fan of GP & J Baker and their beautiful and elegant fabrics, my stash features 'Nympheus' and Peony & Blossom, both of which will look dreamy on some upholstered pieces I'm thinking about.
My current favourite though is the beautiful vintage Sanderson Fabrics 'Sagala' bird fabric in it's bright and bold greens and corals. I was fortunate to come across a bolt of this lovely fabric a while back so I've been able to make a number of furnishings from it (take a look!)
Another vintage Sanderson which is always a crowd puller in my stash is the gorgeous vintage Sanderson 'Cluny' fabric which is covered in all manner of beautiful wildlife but the weird and wonderful birds in it are especially beautiful. (my piece of this fabric is vintage but hoorah, you can still buy this amazing fabric)
With a softer colour palette is another favourite fabric of mine which I have made into beautiful velvet backed cushions. This elegant soft yellow faded floral vintage Sanderson has little birds hidden in the design which I only spotted while sewing
Well I could talk for hours about birds and fabric and I'd love to hear about your favourite design! but right now I must return to my to do list....though I'll still make a little time to continue fabric bird watching....
